Apprenticeships and traineeships are nationally recognised as an effective tool to equip our economy with the skilled workforce it needs.
The Commission is keen to ensure that South Australia’s apprenticeship and traineeship system remains viable and relevant in times of economic change and workforce transformation.
In June 2018, the Commission released a Discussion Paper titled, 'Future-proofing the South Australian Training and Skills Commission'.
In June to September 2018 we sought stakeholder advice about what is working well and what isn’t, and what we need to do to ensure that we have a system that is responsive to industry’s changing needs.
Insights gathered throughout this discussion will inform the Commission’s advice to government. A recommendations report will be released in the first quarter of 2019.
A summary of the feedback the Commission received in response to the Discussion Paper
The Commission has listened to the feedback from stakeholders and examined the research and data available about the apprenticeship and traineeship system. This final report identifies the strength of the existing system and acknowledges its endurance and continuing relevance. However, there is room for improvement to ensure quality outcomes across all apprenticeship and traineeship pathways. The Commission makes recommendations in five key areas to support these quality outcomes.
