The South Australian Training awards, a year-long program presented by the Training and Skills Commission, were scheduled to be celebrated at a gala dinner in Adelaide in September this year. In light of the impact of the global outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on the South Australian community, the Commission has made the decision to postpone the Awards' silver jubilee celebrations until 2021.

However, the Commission will continue to showcase excellence across the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector and promote VET as a pathway of choice for the state's current and future workforce by supporting high quality applicants to represent the state at the 2020 Australian Training Awards (ATA). Importantly, we will continue to celebrate South Australia's achievements in growing the VET sector across the past few years, recognising the state's nation leading increases in apprenticeship and traineeship numbers.

The Commission will support South Australians to develop and submit their nominations for the ATA and will undertake shortlisting to identify candidates for progression through to the national awards. Nominations can be made until 5pm on Tuesday 30 June 2020.

In addition, the ATA has also extended the nomination period for its direct entry only categories to 30 June 2020, allowing additional time for nominees to submit entries to the national program. Further information about these categories can be found at www.australiantrainingawards.gov.au

The Commission is very pleased to support candidates for the national program, highlighting the success of South Australia's best and brightest students, trainers, training providers, schools and employers, and sharing positive and personal stories of training achievements.

We look forward to celebrating the 25th anniversary of the South Australian Training Awards in 2021.
